Madekwe comes from a multicultural family. Her birthplace was in South London. Her mother is English and her father is Nigerian. She went to The Brit School when she was 14. She went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London where she gained an acting BA. At the academy and performing in numerous stage productions including the King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe began her acting career with a film titled Storm Damage. She has appeared as a guest on Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's film debut was in Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), with Colin Farrell. After this success, Madekwe appeared as Elisha on her role on the BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN and was featured in six episodes Trexx as well as Flipside. In 2008, she was offered the Bambi part on the ITV2 Drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The actress was on the series 2 and 3. Madekwe was a part of the comedic How to Lose Friends and Alienate people (2008). A couple of her credits on stage include Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) as well as Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe officially made her US debut with The Beautiful Life in 2009. The show aired just two episodes at The CW, and was later removed from the air. Ashley Leggat is a Gemini-nominated actress, who was born into the large family. Her parents were Roy and Patty Leggat. The four brothers she had were also in the family and included twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's siblings, who are all sportsmen, played in the summer months and play hockey in winters. Ashley did not have the ability to walk but she was able to dance. As she was two and a half, she took up Baby Ballet and fell in with. Ashley became a dancer since that time.
